A LONG-established music charity in the borough is changing its name as part of a re-brand.
Berkshire Maestros has been offering musical education opportunities to children, young people and adults across Berkshire for 40 years.
This year, in line with their new vision, mission and values, the organisation is re-branding as the Berkshire Music Trust.
The announcement was made at a garden party event, the culmination of celebrations to mark the educational charity’s four decades of music making.
Former and current students gathered to commemorate the birthday, share their memories of friendships, music making, and overseas tours, and to perform together again.
Adam Pollard, Berkshire Music Trust chair, said: “It was fantastic to celebrate 40 years of the charity bringing the joy of learning and making music to thousands of children and young people over that time.
“It’s so important that we continue to give opportunities for all young people to experience the fun, community and fulfilment from music.
“ I’m excited to see what the next 40 years will bring!”
Berkshire Music Trust is updating their brand, logo and name, as they seek to become a more inclusive place for people to be inspired, to explore, and to enjoy music making.
Their new name is intended to be similar and a little friendlier, to reflect their new mission and values.
Dawn Wren, Berkshire Music Trust CEO, said: “This is a really exciting time for us as we re-build after the pandemic and look to the future of music-making across Berkshire.
“Not only do we want to reach more children and young people but we also want to break down barriers relating to young people engaging in music.
“Working with our partners, we can’t wait to inspire and engage with more and more people.”
Berkshire Music Trust’s vision is to enhance and enrich the lives of children, young people and adults through a range of musical opportunities.
It aims to offer creative, enjoyable and enriching learning experiences, and to help the community to enjoy music in all its forms.
Jon Carroll, Berkshire Music Trust chair-elect, said: “We are proud of what we have accomplished in the past and are even more excited about the future as Berkshire Music Trust embarks on a new era of growth and innovation.
“We are committed to providing even more music education opportunities to children and adults in Berkshire, and we are confident that we shall positively impact the lives of many more across the community.”
The organisation works with schools across the county to allow all children access to music and the opportunity to play an instrument.
Through local music centres, they offer people of all ages the chance to sing, play instruments and enjoy music.
Their choirs, orchestras and ensembles perform at venues across the county and beyond.
