A project to install a bridge across the M4 by Shinfield needs to close the motorway next week to enable the work to be completed.
The Shinfield Relief Road bridgeworks was started in early December but due to bad weather was unable to be completed in time. As such, three further nights worth of work is planned for the New Year to enable the project to be completed.
The motorway will be closed between junctions 10 and 11 for three nights from Wednesday, January 6.
During the closures, Highways England will apply a diversion via the B3270 and A329(M). The works will take place between 9pm and 6am.
The new bridge is part of the Shinfield Eastern Relief Road currently being constructed by Hochtief on behalf of the University of Reading.
The closure will mean workmen can safely install the bridge’s outer shell and protective edge barriers.
