A FIFTEEN-year-old oak tree was planted in Shinfield village last week to mark national tree week.
Members of the Parish Council were joined by children from Shinfield Infant School to plant a young oak tree on School Green.
Elaine Butler from the Wokingham District Veteran Tree Association also joined the group to celebrate the planting.

The six-metre oak tree was planted to replace a tree that had been struck by lightning in the past. It was taken down to a stump for villager’s safety, which was removed due to rotting wood.
“We’re hoping it will grow into a much-loved tree,” said Mike Balbini, Shinfield Parish Clerk.
The older members of the parish council hope that planting the new oak tree will provide many memories for the school children of the village.
