A Woodley off-licence store will face a premises licence review after being reported of selling alochol to underage children.
Brecon Road Food and Wine at The Parade, Woodley, will face the review at Wokingam Borough Council.
Councillor Robert Horskins of Woodley Town Council said there had been 11 instances of ‘people underage buying alcohol’ and evidence of the owner ‘selling illegal alcohol’.
Cllr Horskins said multiple Brecon Road residents had contacted him to say they have ‘noticed children are going out in there and coming out with stuff [alchohol]’.
Woodley Town Council’s planning and communities committee were asked to give comments on the review, for which a date has not been set.
It is likely to go to a licensing panel, made up of cross-party councillors, at Wokingham Borough Council.
Premise licence reviews can be requested by a member of the public or an authoritative body, such as Thames Valley Police, Trading Standards or the Home Office.
They can be called if it is believed a premise licence holder is breaking any four of the licensing objectives under the Licensing Act 2003.
These are the prevention of crime and disorder and public nuisance, promotion of public safety, and the protection of children from harm.
Woodley Town Council has sought comments from its members which have been provided as evidence to Wokingham Borough Council.
