Offices in an industrial estate in Lower Earley are due to be converted into flats.
Cutbush Court is a large two-storey building containing offices, flats and the Lower Earley family dental practice.
It is situated in Danehill, a mixed commercial and industrial area.
Cutbush Court is divided into four units, with one unit being occupied by the dental practice.
The owner of the building has applied to convert one unit into six one-bedroom flats, with each floor containing two apartments.
A planning agent from Stones Architects pointed out that plans were already approved to convert units 2 and 3 of Cutbush Court in 2017 and 2018.
A letting for a flat Unit 2 for £1,050 per month can be found online.
The conversion project required prior approval from Wokingham Borough Council officers before it could go ahead.
Each flat will come with a designated car parking space, with access to cycle spaces as well. Inside, each flat will have a double bedroom, a shower toilet and a kitchen and living facilities.
Overall, it was determined that Unit 1 of Cutbush Court is suitable to be converted into habitable accommodation, and the application was granted on Friday, July 4.
You can view the approved application by typing reference 251301 into Wokingham borough council’s planning portal.
Building owners have been able to convert commercial properties into residential use through the fast-tracked permitted development process since planning reforms were introduced by the Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition government in 2013.
