A TWYFORD social club took delivery this month of a vehicle that will make a big difference to its members and volunteers.
Age Concern Twyford and District (ACTD) invited honoured guests to the launch of its new minibus.
Care manager at Age Concern Twyford and District (ACTD) adult social club, said: “It was a wonderful celebration, attended by The Deputy Lieutenant for The Royal County of Berkshire, Dr Stefan Fafinski, Alexander Barfield, High Sheriff of the Royal County of Berkshire, and ACTD Co-Founder, Lady Elizabeth Godsal.

“So many people generously came to support the launch, including our staff and volunteers, trustees, sponsors, our club regulars and their families, and members of our local community.”
The launch offered a social opportunity as well as celebrating the club’s new minibus, with light refreshments and entertainment as part of the event.
“The minibus will make such a big difference to us,” continued Debs.
“My little fiat only takes three people, for example, so we would be back and forth picking people up and dropping them home again afterwards.
“This new bus can transport 17 people, and enables more people to access the services we offer.”
Located in Twyford Village Hall, the Age Concern group operates a small, independent social club dedicated to serving the local community.
The charity’s mission is to provide essential care and support services.
It offers stimulating activities, companionship, and enjoyment to its members, and aims to fulfil people’s needs while treating them with respect.
The group is dementia-friendly, and caring towards people in the community with long-term health conditions and disabilities.
Services include entertainment, seated exercises, crafts, singalong sessions, home cooked lunch, monthly themed activities, and special occasion events.
Its family carer support can chat through any concerns as well as offering advice and guidance.
Assistance is also given with form-filling, including for Attendance Allowance, and Blue Badge status.
