A MAN sought the help of firefighters when a plug socket at his Bracknell home overheated earlier this morning.
Pumps from the town and Ascot stations were called out to an address in Mill Green when the alarm was raised just after midnight.
The occupant, a man said to be in his 30s, was still up when he noticed the socket was smouldering, meaning a more serious incident was luckily avoided.
It is understood the property recently had the electrics rewired, but it is alleged that it had been done so incorrectly according to those dealing with the incident.
The crews present isolated the electrics and have arranged for an engineer to visit the home at some point today.
Damage, thankfully, was limited to a scorch mark up the wall above the damaged socket.
No-one was hurt in the incident, with the pumps standing down at 1.30am.
