Wokingham borough council has said its contractors have been working through the night on Easthampstead Road in order to reduce disruption during the day.
A spokesperson said: “Our partners at Balfour Beatty have been installing concrete safety barriers, which are essential to protect everyone from a deep excavation near the road.
“The work started on Monday, January 1, and took place between 7pm and 6am..
“The teams need to work at night to reduce disruption at peak times and keep themselves safe. Traffic will flow as normal during the day.”
