Ovie Ejaria rejoins Reading on transfer deadline day on season-long loan deal with option to buy

READING have signed Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria on a season-long loan from Liverpool with an option to buy to complete their fifth signing of the week.

Ejaria enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Royals last season as he joined in January 2018 and made a big contribution to the clubs successful battle against relegation.

“The fans, the players, my coaching team and I already know all about the quality Ovie possesses,” said Reading manager Jose Gomes.

“The impact he can make at this level and the respect he already commands in the dressing room at Reading FC. I’m thrilled he has agreed to join us again.”

Jose Gomes’ side have had a remarkable ending to the summer transfer window which has seen them sign five new players this week, in contrast to the opening few weeks of the window which saw Reading placed under a ‘soft transfer embargo’ by the English Football League.

The 21-year-old midfielder becomes the tenth signing in total this summer in what has been a very productive transfer window for the club.

Chief Executive Nigel Howe said: “As we all know, Ovie is a quiet but confident young midfielder who fits our formula very well. He enjoyed his loan spell with us last season, felt part of the Reading family and I’m delighted he has agreed to return as a Royal again.”
