A SUCCESSFUL event on Saturday allowed Finchampstead residents to get a flavour of plans to regenerate one of its estates.
And organisers are getting ready to repeat the exercise tomorrow.
Plans for phase two of the regeneration of Gorse Ride will be on display at St Mary’s and St John’s Parish Centre between 3pm and 7.30pm.
During the free drop-in session, residents will be able to view the plans and discuss them with members of Wokingham Borough Council’s project team.
The council plans to replace the outdated homes on the estate and the first phase at the former Cockayne Court Care Home and surrounding properties has already started.
The next stage includes Firs Close, Dart Close, Orbit Close, Billing Avenue and parts of Whittle Close and Gorse Ride South.
Cllr Parry Batth, executive member for adult social care, health and wellbeing said: “This is your chance to really shape them to make sure we’re on the right track. We’ll then update them and come back with them again in April to see if there are any minor amends needed before they’re submitted as a planning application.”
The regeneration overall is expected to create some 80 additional new homes on the housing register – a mix of one- and
two-bedroom bungalows and apartments, and two- to five-bedroom houses.
