A consultation has opened into plans by a Sindlesham pub to install a wooden gazebo as a designated outdoor shisha smoking area.
The Poachers gastro pub in Mill Lane has applied to Wokingham Borough Council for permission for the development.
In the plans, agents said the structure will be more than six metres from the Grade-II listed building and, with the timber cladding external appearance, will be sympathetic to the listed building.
The proposed gazebo will have a maximum height of three metres. Plans suggest the area will be open from noon until 2am.
In conclusion, the agents said: “The development is an appropriate proposal within this setting, and succeeds in maintaining the character of the local area.
“The proposal will not disturb trees on the site, and will also have no adverse implications on neighbouring amenity.”
Shisha involves smoking a heated, specially prepared tobacco through a pipe.
The consultation is open until June 6.
