The poor state of play equipment at a Finchampstead park was highlighted at the recent full council meeting of Wokingham borough council.
Cllr Charles Margetts asked Cllr Kartin Harding, the executive councillor for environment and climate emergency: “I raised the issue with you at the last council meeting about play equipment at Finchampstead baptist centre, which is ,according to officers, weeks or months from falling apart and needing replacing.
“At the time I asked if you could guarantee that there would be funding available for next year and you explained that given the funding pressures that it may not be the case.
“What I was going to ask you this time was whether you could confirm if a bid has gone in the medium term financial plan to be considered as part of the budget?”
Cllr Harding said: “As I explained last time, particularly given the challenge of this cycle, there are a number of bids, and we need to review them all.
“We will be doing so through the transparent community and corporate overview and scrutiny committee.
“Officers are, of course, aware of it and I would like to take the opportunity to thank Finchampstead parish council for their support with this play area.
“As I understand it, they are looking to collaborate with us in delivering to the playground.
“Due to that, a bid has gone in, and we will be considering it with all colleagues through that overview and scrutiny process.”
