I’m not usually one to make a fuss
But this situation getting beyond a joke
As yet again I’m waiting on a bus
Along with all the other West Reading folk
A bus was due over an hour ago
But 90 minutes on it’s still a no show
Meaning that I’ll be very late
Good job I’ve not got a hot date
I’ve quickly learnt to check the app
That lets me watch progress on a map
But that just leads to feelings of despair
As I watch three buses going nowhere
Barely crawling down the Oxford Road
As travel weary passengers they unload
Who’ve sat for an hour in traffic to travel a mile
And when they get off aren’t wearing a smile
What genius who works in planning didn’t think
That rush hour traffic into chaos would sink
And that roadworks on all roads heading to town from the West
As an idea wasn’t one of their best
I wonder if the actual plan is to bring the traffic to a stop
So that they can gloat as onto their bicycles they hop
And weave in and out of all the stuck buses and cars
Whilst leaving the rest of us stuck for hours
I console myself that it won’t be for very long
Then I spot the yellow sign on the A4 proving me wrong
