A GRANT will help cover the cost of new CCTV cameras for Woodley Town Centre.
Last year, the Police Community Fund donated £5,000 for the project. Now, it has given an additional £10,000.
A further grant of £15,000 was made by Wokingham Borough Council, meaning the project can go out to tender.
Woodley Town Council is responsible for the project and says they have been meeting with potential bidders so the project can move forward quickly.
Brian Fennelly, Woodley town centre manager, said: “We are very grateful to have received this further contribution from the Police Community Fund. Wokingham Borough Council’s contribution is also very much appreciated, and it is very encouraging to have these two important stakeholders making an active contribution to Woodley Town Centre.
“Woodley Town Council have been fully supportive of the project all along and the Town Centre Partnership look forward to working with them now, at pace to get an effective CCTV system installed.”
