The Classic Thriller Theatre Company is preparing to take its latest show to the West End, but before it does so, it’s taking it to the Theatre Royal Windsor.
Gaslight tells the story of Bella Manningham, a woman for whom everything seems horribly real.
As the fog-bound evening draws in and the gaslight dims again, Bella realizes she is alone with no one to protect her from the footsteps creaking in the attic. Only the unexpected arrival of former police detective Rough can help untangle fact from fiction and save a woman on the brink of insanity.
Patrick Hamilton’s Gaslight was first staged in 1938, and in 1944 was adapted as a film starring legendary Academy Award winner Ingrid Bergman, Joseph Cotten and Charles Boyer.
One of the UK’s best-loved actors, Martin Shaw is leading a star-studded cast. Best known for his TV roles in Judge John Deed, Inspector George Gently and The Professionals, he returns to the stage after recent West End triumphs including An Ideal Husband, Twelve Angry Men, Are You Lonesome Tonight? and A Man for All Seasons.
The cast also features James Wilby (Poldark, A Handful Of Dust, Gosford Park) and Charlotte Emmerson (Silent Witness, Law & Order).
It is performed at the Theatre Royal Windsor from Wednesday, September 18 to Saturday, September 28.
