RESIDENTS keen to start the New Year with a stroll can join an annual community walk in Crowthorne.
Organised by Wokingham Rotary and Rotary Club of Crowthorne, Sandhurst & Bracknell, the route takes visitors on a New Year’s Day tour of the gardens of Wellington College.
”This walk is quite a local institution,” saud Cathy Boddy, environment lead for the Rotary Club of Wokingham.
“People will be glad to know that it’s on – and that the bacon butties are back.”
The college grounds route is approximately two miles long, and takes around 40 minutes to complete.
Dogs on leads are welcomed, and although the route is buggy friendly, organisers say it can be a bit boggy in places, weather dependent.
A wheelchair-friendly route is also available, with guides ready to offer directions.
And as well as a fun-themed children’s trail, there are hot and soft drinks, as well as bacon butties, available to buy.
The Wellington College walk is self-led, and can be started at any time between 10.30 am and 1pm (the event ends at 1.30pm), on Thursday, January 1, 2026.
Tickets cost £5 at the entrance gate, or free for children 11 and under (no advance tickets are available).
Funds raised will be donated to Thames Valley Air Ambulance Service and other local causes.
Free on site car parking is available.
