Yakou Meite admits it was difficult to fully focus on playing for Reading during the January transfer window.
The forward was close to departing the club with a return to France on the cards before the deal fell through late on in the month.
Boss Jose Gomes has since revealed that the Royals owner Dai Yongge made the decision to keep Meite, whose future was still undecided until deadline day.

And the forward, who ended a four month goal drought with the dramatic winner against Wigan Athletic two weeks ago, is pleased to concentrate on Reading again.
“I think people forget I had a lot of transfer speculation,” said Meite.
“I don’t want to say it affected my mind but it was one month that was difficult for me.
“I was ready to go and I came back. I was a little bit confused but now I am focused for the team and I will try to help my team to stay in the Championship.
“I don’t think anymore about what happened before but it’s true that January was a little bit in my mind.”

He added: “I came back just before the game against Aston Villa (February 2) and after this game I was 100% focused for the team.
“I think the coach likes me and I like him. I don’t have any problem with him.
“Sometimes football is like this, when you have an opportunity sometimes you are ready to go and sometimes you want to stay.
“I can’t explain it but the most important thing is I am here and I am 100% focused.”
