Reading FC manager Noel Hunt gave an update on whether the club have made any progress on signing players on the free agents market.
The Royals had a busy summer with both incomings and outgoings.
Under the new ownership of Rob Couhig and Todd Trosclair, new CEO Joe Jacobson and director of football recruitment Brian Carey were kept busy.
Several top performers departed the club including top scorer Harvey Knibbs, Amadou Mbengue, Tyler Bindon, Michael Craig and others.
Meanwhile, Reading made a total of 12 signings, including four loan additions.
However, after a deadline day which saw no activity, manager Noel Hunt did admit that the club would explore the free agents market if a good possibility arose.
Speaking on whether the club has made any progress in the free agents market, Hunt said: “We haven’t really (made progress), we’ve focused on the ones we’ve had in the building.
“If someone pops up, great, if it doesn’t no problem at all.”
Reflecting on the summer window as a whole, Hunt said: “We’ve done some really good business. It’s been a process and we’ve had to do a lot of resignings because we had so many out of contract. It’s been a long process, it’s been a unique situation from where we’ve had to build from.
“We’ve got decent depth in the squad.”
Reading have had a disappointing start to the season, but did manage to pick up their second league victory of the campaign with a 2-1 win over Leyton Orient which lifts them up to 20th in the table on eight points from eight matches.
Next up for Reading is an EFL Cup tie away at Championship side Wrexham before they face Stockport away from home on Saturday.
