Reading FC have completed a late transfer deadline day move to bring young forward Kadan Young to the Select Car Leasing Stadium on loan from Premier League side Aston Villa until the end of the 2025–26 season.
The 19-year-old England youth international joins Reading to provide additional attacking options as the League One club look to strengthen their squad for the second half of the campaign.
Young, who can play across the forward line and on either wing, has come through the Aston Villa academy and featured for their under-21s, and he has also made a handful of first-team appearances for Villa in cup competitions. He has represented England up to Under-19 level.
The loan move is designed to give Young valuable regular senior football experience, with Reading boss Leam Richardson seeking to add creativity and pace to his side’s attacking ranks ahead of a crucial run of fixtures.
Reading confirmed the deal on Tuesday evening, shortly before the winter transfer window closed, in what supporters hope will be a boost for the club’s push up the League One table.
Villa, who retain the winger’s long-term future, will monitor his progress during the loan spell as the young forward gains experience in senior football.
