Reading FC picked up an important three points as they netted four at Home Park to defeat relegation battling Plymouth Argyle.
Both teams came into the game with strikers in red hot form, but it was the Royals who profited early.
The game was turned on its head just 14 minutes in when the hosts were reduced to 10 players and Reading were given a penalty when Joe Ralls pulled down Derrick Williams to deny him a goalscoring opportunity.
Reading captain Lewis Wing converted from the penalty spot and then minutes later he doubled the lead to make it 2-0.
Former Exeter City loanee Kamari Doyle put daylight between the teams to make it 3-0 in the 20th minute.
Plymouth came fighting back to give Reading a scare in the second-half despite being three goals and man down.
Xavier Amechi grabbed a goal back before Plymouth were given a chance to get right back into the contest from the penalty spot.
However, their top scorer Lorent Tolaj hit a weak penalty which was stopped by Joel Pereira.
The game was wrapped up when Reading’s man of the moment Jack Marriot fired in with a precise finish to make it 4-1.
The win lifts Reading up to 11th in the table on 28 points from 21 games.
