A THAMES VALLEY-based company is celebrating after scooping an award that recognises its commitment to gender equality in the workplace.
Reading Scientific Services Ltd (RSSL) secured the Enlighted Employer Award at this year’s Women in Business Awards.
With female employees making up almost two-thirds of its 300 staff, a female majority in its leadership team and inspirational female role models at every level, RSSL showed judges that it successfully demonstrated itself to be “a truly worthy winner”.
The scientific consultancy was praised for its “significant investment in embedding a culture of diversity and inclusion within the organisation” and the number of initiatives in place to attract, retain and develop female talent.
RSSL impressed with its emphasis on mentoring and diversity training, as well as a highly-successful gender-neutral graduate programme designed to welcome the next generation of female scientists into the world of science.
Jacinta George, managing director at RSSL, said: “We are delighted with this endorsement of RSSL as a place where women are actively encouraged to excel.
“Our aim has always been to create an environment which supports women; not only in terms of their career development but also on a practical level by building an infrastructure that enables women to successfully balance family and working life.
“We are proud that our commitment to providing opportunities for women to thrive has been recognised — all the more so because it adds further credibility to RSSL’s mission to save and enhance lives through our science.”
The Enlighted Employer award was announced at the gala Women in Business Awards evening in the stunning surroundings of The Oakley Court Hotel, Windsor, in front of a sell-out audience of professionals from the Berkshire business community.
