Wokingham & Emmbrook Football Club set a new attendance record for its Lowther Road ground last Friday, when 604 people watched the home side lose 0-2 against Binfield in the Preliminary Round of this season’s Emirates FA Cup.
The crowd was one of the top five in the country for matches in last weekend’s round of the competition.
Although the club were defeated on the field, the match was deemed to be a successful one in other ways. Bar revenues, hospitality and prize money are all welcome additions to club funds.
Mark Ashwell, club president, said: “We’d like to thank everyone who came along. We hope some supporters who came along for the first time were impressed with what they saw, and will come along again for a future match.
“I’d also like to say a huge thanks to the volunteers who assisted us during the evening.”
