Wokingham Borough Council’s recycling partner has apologised to residents after photographs of uncollected glass recycling appeared on social media sites last weekend.
Hundreds of glass bottles and jars were pictured at several sites, including at Tesco on Finchampstead Road (pictured).
A spokesperson for re3 told Wokingham Today: “We are currently experiencing a slight delay in the emptying of our bottle banks, which is due to illness among our staff members.
“We have adjusted our regular schedule and are currently prioritising the busiest sites. While we always strive to provide a timely service, this unfortunate situation has temporarily disrupted our operations.
“We want to thank our residents for their patience and understanding. We understand that glass recycling is important to our community, and we apologise for any inconvenience this delay may cause. We are committed to resuming our regular collection schedule as soon as possible.”
re3 is a waste management partnership between Bracknell Forest, Reading and Wokingham Borough Councils.
