TWO refurbished playgrounds were officially re-opened last week, providing hours of fun for the borough’s younger residents.
New equipment including trampolines, seesaws, swings and interactive play panels have been installed in Charwood Road and Ashridge Road play areas as part of the borough’s ongoing regeneration plans.
Executive member for environment Cllr Angus Ross was the one to cut the ribbon during a special ceremony held at Ashbridge Road play area on Friday afternoon. He was joined by lots of happy children for the occasion.
A total of £160,000 has been spent on the two play areas and the designs were made in consultation with the parents and children who used them. The money for the work came from contributions made by developers working on the borough’s new housing schemes.
Mr Ross said: “These play areas had become tired so we took the opportunity of S106 funding to provide something new and exciting that will be enjoyed by children for many years to come.”
