AN EVENT in Woodley will see the Christmas lights go on, as people gather to remember loved ones round the tree.
The Woodley & Earley Lions Club will be participating in the Annual Christmas Tree and town centre lights switch-on, which is organised by the Woodley Town Centre Partnership.
To celebrate a milestone anniversary, or in memory of a loved one, residents are invited to sponsor a light on the Christmas tree.
The name of the person remembered will appear on a poster at the foot of the tree, and all money raised will go to local good causes through Woodley & Earley Lions Club.
There will also be carol singing to musical accompaniment, mulled wine distributed by the Lions, and mince pies donated by Wenzel’s the Bakers.
Lion President Mike Kennedy said: “The occasion is always well attended and gives people a chance to remember those who are no longer with us.
“Everyone is welcome to join the event, and to watch the switching on of the tree and festive lights.”
The lights will be switched on in Woodley Precinct, on Saturday, November 23, at 5pm.
