Officers at Wokingham borough council have awarded prior approval for plans to add a two-storey extension to create 32 residential units on the fourth and fifth floors of a business unit at Thames Valley Business Park in Earley.
The application site comprises an existing building in office use. The building is three storeys in height, with a flat roof and broadly rectangular in shape, with a parking area located to the south.
Prior approval was applied for in respect of the proposed erection of a two storey upward extension to provide 32 residential units with associated plant, car and cycle parking.
Agents wrote: “In conclusion, whilst the building would be appreciably taller than any other building within Thames Valley Business Park, it is not considered that the proposal would result in a building which would be unduly dominant within the street scene.”
Similar plans for the unit at 400 Regus House, Thames Valley Park Drive were previously refused on fire safety grounds.
Agents said: “It is considered that this application has made the necessary amendments to ensure compliance ..”
Prior approval was granted on November 28.
