ROADWORKS across the greater Reading area will cause delays across routes this September, Reading Buses has warned, urging passengers to leave extra time for their journeys.
The company said that a mixture of resurfacing, gas main replacements and broadband installation works are behind the hold-ups, affecting Caversham, Southcote and Woodley areas throughout September. Some bus stops will be moved as a result
Affected routes are jet black 1, lime 2, orange 13 and 14, berry 24, yellow 26, royal blue 33 routes as well as school services 83 and 84.
From Saturday, September 9 through to Friday, September 15, resurfacing works in Lowfield Road in Caversham will see the road closed between 8am and 8pm. Reading Buses’ berry 24 as well as school routes 83 and 84, will be diverted.
The Bath Road and Castle Hill resurfacing works run until Tuesday, September 5, between 8am and 5pm, affecting jet black, lime, yellow 26 and royal blue 33 routes.
There will then be works on Bath Road and Berkeley Avenue from Wednesday, September 6, until Friday, September 29, with the Bath Road closed at the junction with Berkley Avenue in the direction of Calcot.
There are also works in Woodley affecting orange 13 & 14, running until Monday, October 2. Diversions will run on Headley Road Circle and Woodley Piazza stops.
A spokesperson for the firm said: “Reading Buses wish to thank customers for their patience during these necessary works.”
