Ruben Selles has sent a farewell message to the Reading FC fans as he departs to join Championship side Hull City.
Since joining the club last summer, Selles managed to keep stability at the club as he steered Reading to safety in League One despite all the off-field issues.
His team have developed and currently sit in 6th position in League One as the Spaniard departs to join Hull City, who are 22nd in the Championship.
Speaking to the club’s media, Selles said: “I have a lot of feelings about my time here. Firstly I can say it’s been extraordinary in the ways I’ve seen the boys develop with a team growing together.
“We had all kinds of events in the last 18 months, but I’m very proud of the effort and togetherness that is characteristic of this club.
“I’m very proud of the environment we have created.
“Reading made me a better person and showed me the way to be the manager I want to be. You can never do it alone, it’s a collective effort. That#s something that will stay with me forever.
“I think one day people will study the reaction of this group of plates and technical staff every time they’ve been thrown into challenging situations. The learning is coming from the bad moments and the good moments we have enjoyed with the fans.
“I want to say (to the fans) thank you for everything, for the support I’ve felt from the very beginning even when results weren’t going our way.
“They acknowledged the challenges we’ve had at the club and their support has been massive for us to keep going and keep the club alive.
“I’m very proud of the relationship we have built and wish everyone at the club, especially the fans, I hope they can keep enjoying with the team and keep supporting to move the club forward.”
