Voters in Ruscombe are set to have their say on the Neighbourhood Plan next week.
Ruscombe Parish Council has been developing its Neighbourhood Plan, and many residents have contributed.
Following a statutory external examination, a Referendum version of the plan has been created.
Anyone registered to vote in Ruscombe will have the opportunity to vote on December 7 as to whether the Neighbourhood Plan will be adopted.
If adopted, the Parish Council will receive 25% of the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) paid by developers, rather than 15% with no Plan. CIL money is used for improvements to local infrastructure and amenities.
The Neighbourhood Plan sets out planning policies for the neighbourhood area. These planning policies are used in deciding planning applications.
Polling day is Thursday December 7.
Residents will be asked to vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on whether they want Wokingham Borough Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Ruscombe Parish to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”. A majority ‘yes’ vote will mean the Plan will carry weight in planning decisions.
As per referendum rules, residentys will be able to vote in person at a polling station between 7am and 10pm, by post or by proxy. Valid ID will be required if voting in person.
