Sainsbury’s store in Winnersh has been closed due to flooding, but has since reopened.
The branch was closed on around 2pm on Saturday, April 1, following heavy rain yesterday.
Wokingham Today understands the flooding started in the Starbucks cafe and spread across the branch.
Staff are working to clear the water so the store can reopen, but until it does, the Reading Road supermarket is shut.
Tables and chairs have been moved to allow the water to be cleared away.
There is also a hole in the ceiling of the cafe.
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “Our Winnersh store was temporarily closed for a short time this afternoon.
“We are pleased to be welcoming customers back into store now, and are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
The area around the store was hit as the Emm Brook burst its banks yesterday. The Winnersh Relief Road was underwater due to the deluge.
Thames Water has warned the Ash Ridge sewage works is currently dischargeing into the Ashridge Stream, which in turn runs into the Emm Brook.
This process started at 5.15pm on Friday, March 31, and is continuing.
The Easthampstead Park works are also discharging. This started at 9.30pm on Friday, March 31.
In Arborfield, Barkham Brook has been used as a storm overflow since 7am on Friday, March 31.
The River Blackwater has been pressed into service as an overflow by New Mill in Eversley Lower Common. The overflow started at 1.45am on Saturday, April 1.
