HEAVY rain has brought flooding to both Reading and Wokingham, causing problems for many. And more pain could be on the way as river levels are expected to rise.

There are flood warnings in place for the River Loddon, the River Onag and the Emm Brook. There is also a risk of flooding for the River Thames around Wargrave and Remenham Hill.

The constant deluge saw many roads underwater, including the Suttons Seeds roundabout by the A3290, causing Reading Buses to divert, the Just Tiles roundabout in Woodley, and the Winnersh Relief Road.

Prospect Park roundabout was also flooded.

Water companies have been using their storm overflow outlets which means sewage has been going into the flood waters.

As of last night this included the Ashridge Sewage Farm in Wokingham, which was discharging into the Ash Ridge, which feeds into the Emmbrook.

As in previous bursts of heavy rain, the area around the Emmbrook School has flooded, forcing it to be closed.

There were also discharges into the River Loddon in Wargrave, the Foundry Brook in Reading, Clay Hill Brook in Burghfield, Barkham Book in Arborfield, New Mill in Eversley, and Easthampstead Park.

Residents also experienced power cuts including outages in Winnersh, Woodley, Charvil, Swallowfield and Wokingham.
