Sean Moore brace fires Binfield FC up the table

Sean Moore tries his luck

Sean Moore has scored eight goals for Binfield this season

SEAN MOORE bagged a brace as Binfield continued their climb up the table with victory over 10-man Longlevens.

Liam Gavin also found the net as the hosts eased to victory over the Gloucestershire outfit, who saw Kieran Squires sent off in the first half.

The Moles have now won three on the spin in league and cup and sit 11th in the Premier Division ahead of Wednesday night’s trip to leaders Brackley Town Saints.

Roger Herridge made just one change from the extra time win over Thornbury Town last weekend with Moore preferred to Jemel Johnson, who dropped to the bench.

And that decision was vindicated inside 10 minutes as Moore broke the deadlock after exchanging passes with Charley Tuttle.

The lead was quickly doubled when Gavin pounced to score from a corner.

Things then went from bad to worse in a nightmare first half for Longlevens when Squires was given a straight red card for clashing with a Binfield man on the wing.

Josh Howell was looking the most dangerous threat for a third goal, testing goalkeeper Ashley Wintle on more than one occasion, but the visitors held firm and looked to hit on the counter attack.

The game was wrapped up with 13 minutes to play as Moore struck again to take his season’s tally to eight goals.

“Valuable three points sets us up nicely for the big week ahead,” said boss Herridge.

After the trip to Brackley, the Moles go to in-form Brimscombe and Thrupp on Saturday (3pm).

BINFIELD: Grace, Shaw (Withers 65), Smith, Gavin, Tuttle, Thomson-Wheeler, Knight (c), Santoro (Johnson 65), Moore, Howell (Horscroft 78), Davies. Subs not used: Senussi, Downes.
Attendance: 58
