This is the moment that a Land Rover smashes through a wall of Wokingham Station to enable thieves to steal a cash machine.
As we reported this morning, the station’s ticket office has been closed as a result of the theft, but trains are operating normally and passengers can buy tickets on the platforms, on trains or at their destinations.
British Transport Police have released some stills from the CCTV images capturing the theft in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
In their report they say: “We were called to Wokingham station at 2:20am this morning (Wednesday, 29 June) following reports of a car crashing into the station.
“Officers from BTP and Thames Valley Police attended, where it appears a cash machine has been stolen from the station. The suspects then left the area in a dark/black vehicle believed to be a BMW or an Audi A5.”
Detectives from BTP are currently investigating this ram raid and are appealing for witnesses or information. You can contact BTP by calling 0800 40 50 40 or by sending a text to 61016 quoting reference 43 of 29/06/2016. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Wokingham station was recently targeted in a separate smash and grab. As part of their investigation, detectives will explore whether these incidents are connected.
