SEVEN people, including five children, are being treated in hospital following a collision in Hare Hatch yesterday afternoon (Thursday).
Shortly after 2.30pm, a white Ford Transit van and a blue Land Rover Discovery were involved in the collision on the A4 Bath Road, close to Wyevale Garden Centre.
The driver of the van, a man in his forties, was released from his vehicle by fire crews and airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with what are described as serious but not life-threatening injuries.
One man and five children, who had been travelling in the Land Rover, sustained minor injuries and attended the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.
All patients remain in hospital at this time.
The road in the area was closed while emergency services attended the scene and Roads Policing officers investigated the circumstances of the collision, but has since reopened.
Investigating officer PC James Baker, from the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing based at Taplow, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who saw the vehicles travelling prior to the collision.
“Two cyclists are believed to have been cycling nearby in the direction of Reading and did not stop. I would like to speak to these cyclists as they may have witnessed the collision and could have helpful information which could assist with our enquiries.”
Anyone with any information about the incident should contact PC Baker via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101 quoting URN 803 27/8.
