A SEX-OFFENDER has been given more jail time following a string of further offences in Wokingham.
James Dyer, 37 and of HMP Five Wells, has been sentenced to a further 18 months in prison at a hearing at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday, July 7.
Dyar pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a child, causing a child to watch/look at an image of sexual activity and breaching his Sexual Harm Protection Order.
Dyer had previously been placed on the sex offenders’ register and was already subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
This prohibited him from communicating with a child under 16, which he breached, and he was arrested at a voluntary interview in September last year whilst already in prison.
It follows an incident when, on February 28 last year, the victim’s mother checked the victim’s phone, discovering messages on Instagram from Dyer.
The messages were of a sexual nature, including videos and voice notes, sent to the victim between February 2-20.
Dyer was subsequently charged back in April this year, and convicted on May 1.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Jill Collett said: “James Dyer is a prolific offender and I am glad he will remain in prison for these crimes.
