LOCAL charity, Arts4Wokingham, has announced that its charity gala film screening of See No Evil (also known as Blind Terror) is now being sponsored by movie maker, Shinfield Studios.
The film, a suspense thriller, is shot entirely in and around Wokingham, and offers a rare chance to see the town as it was in the early 1970’s.
“Whether you’re new to the area or a long time resident, you’ll be sure to recognise several familiar landmarks as they were over 50 years ago,” said Arts4Wokingham trustee Paddy Haycocks.
“Look out for Denmark Street, Easthampstead Road and The Red Lion in Market Place.
“And a local Manor House in Binfield (opposite The Stag and Hounds) frames much of the action as Mia Farrow fights to elude a psychopathic stalker.”
The film also features a young Paul Nicholas, and will tantalise viewers with its locations as they recognise much of the backdrop to the action.
Arts4Wokingham says it is thrilled that Shinfield Studios has offered to sponsor the screening.
“We share a passion and respect for film as a key part of the artistic spectrum,” continued Paddy.
“Shinfield Studios’ endorsement of this event will enable us to dedicate more of our funds to our primary aim of promoting and championing public art across the Borough.
“For the local community, it’s simply a win-win.”
The screening will be preceded by an illuminating introduction from John Gibbs, professor of film at The University of Reading.
A special charity gala event, there is no fixed charge for tickets.
Instead Arts4Wokingham is suggesting a minimum donation of £7.00 per seat, and is hoping that some film goers might round this up and add a few extra pounds in support of the charity.
The charity would like to thank Shinfield Studios, The Whitty Theatre and Wokingham Film Society for their much appreciated support.
See No Evil can be seen at The Whitty Theatre, Wokingham, on Monday, November 11, at 7.30pm.
Tickets are still available, but Arts4Wokingham says that it is already experiencing a strong response to the event.
