BRACKNELL Ice Skating Club pair Alex and Katya Fairbridge were crowned as British Figure Skating Champions for the second consecutive year.
Competing at the British Figure Skating Championships 2019 on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1, the Fairbridge siblings triumphed in the Advanced Novice Dance Couple category.
They achieved a personal best score of 75.10, with a remarkable performance seeing them total nearly 20 points more than their total of last season.
It wasn’t all plain sailing for the Maidenhead brother and sister duo, aged 13 and 16, after Alex broke his foot and could not skate for three months at the start of the season.
However, after recovery the pair who have been skating for nearly four years, secured an emotional victory at the British Championships as they saw the rewards for all of their hard work, including a strict training schedule which starts at 4am every morning before they head to school.

They have been selected for the Development GB Squad for two years now and were invited to train at International Ice Dance seminar in Poland and Germany and in May they were fortunate enough to attend a training camp with Olympic Silver medalists and World Champions, Ice Dancers Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron.
They now have been asked to represent Britain at international competitions.
At the moment they are preparing for the Bracknell Ice rink Panto “Snow White on Ice” which is taking place during this week. This time they are part of the principal cast. This is their first principal role and third panto during their skating career.
The full British Figure Skating Championship event was televised on BBC Sport and catch up on BBC iPlayer, which is available to view over the next 28 days.
