Sir John Redwood, the former Conservative member of parliament for Wokingham, is set to take his place in the House of Lords today (Tuesday) as Baron Redwood of Wokingham.
Sir John was nominated for a life peerage by Conservative party leader Kemi Badenoch in December as part of the 2025 political peerages, to sit as a Conservative peer in the House of Lords.
This appointment was subsequently approved by His Majesty the King.
He will sit as Baron Redwood of Wokingham, as published in the Court List in the Gazette, a publication that is known as the official public record.
Sir John was first elected as MP for Wokingham 1997 before standing down prior to last year’s General Election.
During his time in the House of Commons, Sir John was a cabinet minister and twice stood for leadership of his party – losing out to John Major and William Hague.
