Looking out the window, at the time of writing at least, there’s a bright blanket of blue across the sky, broken only by a ball of gorgeous sunshine. That’s a good sign for the long weekend ahead! Spring has definitely sprung, the days are getting longer and the temperature is creeping up… we’re all for it!
If you’re looking for somewhere to spend the weekend, look no further than the Siren Tap Yard, in nearby Finchampstead. On Friday evening, we’ve got Fat Tabby Catering with their incredible burgers. We’re always open until 10pm on Friday evenings, so plenty of time to enjoy some good food, fresh craft beer and the ever lengthening evenings. Then on Saturday we have the excellent Street Fed providing the food, and again we’re open until 10. If you’re out and about Sunday, then we’ll have our Siren pizza menu on, or of course there’s always a nice roast at the George and Dragon.
Maiden
You may have seen all of our 10th Anniversary activities recently, including our 4 special releases – Times Ten, a 100 day aged Helles – Exquisite Corpse, an IPA designed blind by 10 selected friends of the brewery – Crescendo, an Imperial Stout and of course – Maiden, our anniversary Barley Wine blend.
Well last weekend for April Fools, we had a bit of fun. On Saturday morning, we announced that “A Silly Drop Of A Maiden” (anagram of April Fools Day), aka Maiden in 330ml Waxed Cans were coming soon. Not many believed it to be true, as we’d hoped! Then, on Monday morning, 10 actual waxed cans of Maiden went for sale on our website. The cans were listed at a variety of prices from £20 – £100. We even have 1 (still available!) at a price that might make it the country’s, if not the world’s most expensive craft beer – £500.
This money, however, is 100% for our chosen charities. Those are the RNLI, helping to save lives at sea. Dingley’s Promise, who deliver life changing support to under 5s with special educational needs & disabilities, and Launchpad, helping to prevent homelessness in Reading.
This week, we’ve also been donating 10p from every £1 spent on the webshop to the National Autistic Society, as part of Autism Acceptance Week – a cause close to our hearts. At the time of writing, we’ve raised £1070, which we will match before donating.
A huge thank you to everyone who’s helping us to raise money for these great causes! We hope to share a drink with you in the Tap Yard soon.
