SPENCERS Wood Repair Cafe needs timber.
As well as mending broken household items, the eco friendly group also turns waste wood into bird boxes.
They regularly run workshops for young people, helping them to create bird homes and support wildlife.
Billie Bachra, who runs the group said: “We had a great two days at the Swallowfield Show last month, where we helped young visitors to make bug hotels, and older ones to build their own bird boxes.

“To date we’ve made 340 birdboxes, 35 five star bug hotels (with great reviews), five squirrel picnic tables, and
five bird feeders.”
The group is always on the lookout for the right kind of wood for their wildlife projects.
“Birds can be so fussy,” said Billie.
“Gravel board is best for them, so we’re keen to hear from builders and fencers able to give us offcuts on a regular or one-off basis.
“My wood cutters tell me we need the timber to be at least 15mm thick and 150mm wide.
“But the length doesn’t matter, as we can cut it.”
Spencers Wood Repair Cafe meets at Lambs Lane Primary School, on the third Sunday of each month, from 10am until 1pm.
