Ashridge Park Women travel north to the outskirts of Milton Keynes on Sunday for what will be their first appearance in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.
The Wokingham-based team are set to play Newport Pagnell in the second qualifying round of this season’s competition, having progressed after their first round opponents withdrew from the competition.
That led to the club, which plays its home games at Cantley Park, picking up £1,800 in prize money. A win on Sunday would earn the club another £3,000.
Manager Duncan Owen told Wokingham Today he was trying not to get too excited about the match.
“We are fortunate that our hosts on Sunday have put some of their game footage on social media, so we’ve been able to have a bit of a look.”
He is under no illusions as to the task that awaits his team, explaining that Newport Pagnell, who play in the south Midlands league, play their games at a step higher in the women’s football pyramid.
Kick-off on Sunday in Buckinghamshire is at 2pm.
