Questions are continuing to grow over the future of Reading FC boss Noel Hunt after the Royals managed a draw at home against Doncaster Rovers.
Reading picked up a win in midweek against Northampton Town which saw them move out of the League One relegation zone, but after dropping points agianst Doncaster, they find themselves in 19th place and just two points above the bottom four.
Former Royal Billy Sharp, who had a loan spell with Reading in the 2013/14 season netted for Doncaster to give them the lead before Kamari Doyle levelled the game which meant the points were shared.
However, many fans were again left unsatisfied with both the result and performance as Reading stay fighting at the bottom end of the table.
A section of fans voiced their disdain during the game by chanting ‘sacked in the morning’, directed at Hunt.
Meanwhile, several fans also took to social media after the result to express their concerns at the performances of the team.
One fan on X said: “A team that steps backwards as easily as it seems we did today is a team playing on a whim rather than with clear instruction. Hunt stepped in when we needed him to, and props to him for that, but we need a better manager, coach and tactician. It’s that simple.”
Another said: “Hunt has to go. Players look lost with him in charge. Got extremely lucky with Doyle’s equaliser where keeper had butter on his gloves. These players are MUCH BETTER than current showing. We ALL know this.”
Meanwhile another fan also shared the view that Hunt should leave, but was disappointed with the fans’ chant inside the ground and said: “Hunt is way out of his depth currently. But unlike others before him, he’s seemingly stayed humble. He can’t carry on. We all know this. But several thousand people rubbing his nose in it when he’s clearly working his arse off, and is a good man, was unacceptable.
Another fan said: “Change is desperately needed NOW. Don’t lime the ‘sacked in the morning’ chants towards Hunt who obviously loves the club, but I do understand it and it’s the right decision moving forward.”
