A popular Bracknell-based takeaway is expanding its business into the neigbouring town.
The Spud Wagon has secured planning permission to set up shop at The Duke’s Head pub in Wokingham.
Selling jacket potatoes with a host of different toppings, it recently reopened opposite Bracknell train station in November.
The van sells breakfast, burgers, hot dogs, paninis, loaded fries and pie and mash alongside their classic jacket potatoes.
Plans submitted to Wokingham Borough Council said the mobile catering unit is ‘easily portable and has minimal environmental impact’.
Owners also argued it would contribute positively to the local community due to the accessible location and help the pub.
Agreed opening hours will be 9am to 9pm on Mondays to Fridays, then 9am to 11pm on Fridays to Saturdays., then 9am to 4pm on Sundays and bank holidays.
Wokingham Borough Council said this would ensure neighbours are protected from noise and disturbance.
Owners want to improve the area the van will be located in with plants.
The van had to move from its Bracknell site in the Lexicon shopping centre in Bracknell due to a rise in rent and seasonal food changes.
It has since been operating in the car park of the Market Inn pub.
It temporarily closed from July to November while it looked for a new location in Bracknell.
