SHINFIELD residents were treated to an afternoon of festivities as the village came together for a sunny summer celebration.
A wide range of activities, competitions and food stalls were on show at St Mary’s Church Fete at Shinfield Green on Saturday, and ensured visitors had a great time.
Live music was performed by Tadley Brass Band and choirs from Alder Grove Primary School and Shinfield Infant School.
Ann Young, secretary at St Mary’s, said: “The Green at Shinfield was a blaze of colour and activity. There was a bouncy castle and slide providing fun for the children as well as games and other activities.
“All in all, it was a very successful and enjoyable event which enabled the community to come together and also raise some funds for the church.”
Stalls featuring tombolas, books, cakes and crafts kept people entertained after enjoying the delights of the barbecue and tea tent.
Some of the residents’ four-legged friends braved the heat to take part in the fun dog show, and were rewarded for their efforts with some treats and rosettes.
A fire engine arrived midway through the event, providing the prime opportunity for youngsters to climb aboard and live out their fire fighting dreams.
