CABLES stolen from a generator have caused a power outage in Emmbrook.
The cables were reportedly stolen overnight from a temporary generator, supplied by Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), in Potter Crescent.
A resident reported the incident on social media tweeting: “So someone’s stolen the cables off the SSEN generator which we’ve had in our car park for a week powering our estate, you couldn’t actually make this up.”
This is not the first time the estate has experienced issues with power in recent weeks.
Cllr Imogen Shepherd-Dubey, Liberal Democrat councillor for Emmbrook, said: “I am aware there has been a number of power problems in that area for a couple of weeks.
“Now these cables are missing and there are more than 100 houses without power.”
SSEN has acknowledged the issue.
A spokesperson for the electricity company said: “We are currently awaiting the arrival of more leads for the generator and then going for the full repair to get the area back on permanent supply.”
