Noon, The Dance Zone
SHAKE off that lazy Sunday morning feeling with a fun and friendly dance school that will set you up for the day.
From Ballroom to Latin American, Freestyle to Street dance, there are classes for adults and children from the age of 3 in the Wokingham and Winnersh areas.
This lunchtime set will be performed by the Dance Zone official Dance Crew which consists of pupils from the Freestyle and Street dance classes.
They will be dancing to a medley of music from the last couple of decades, so there will be something for everyone.
1pm, The Gaslights
BASED in Aldershot, Adam and the Gaslights are a 5 piece indie pop-rock band.
Inspired loosely by the 80s, they have a passion for writing and performing original music with choruses to get you dancing.
This collection of talented musicians come together to make beautiful sonic waves.
They were such a hit at Bracknell Rock week they just had to perform at The Wokingham Festival.
2pm, Katy Hurt
KATY Hurt has rapidly become a leading light on the UK Country/Americana scene and all without having released a full-length studio album.
In 2018 she was nominated for Best Country/Folk Act at the Unsigned Music Awards and was the main support to Liam Gallagher at Worthy Farm for The Pilton Party and opened for Jools Holland at Kimbolton Castle.
Fans have warmed to her honest lyrical content of country with riffs and haunting vocals. BBC Radio 2’s Paul Sexton described Katy as “One of the most exciting prospects on the burgeoning country scene”, saying “Hurt’s distinctive EP is the latest evidence of a career that’s already produced an iTunes UK Country No. 1 in Love You More, she’s a vivacious and magnetic performer…Check her out now while you can still get to the front row”.
Katy’s performance at The Pilton Party, highly praised by Michael Eavis, introduced crowds to her latest singles displaying great crossover potential into the rock, pop and blues genres. “Truly a diverse artist”.
3pm to 3.45pm, Spriggan Mist
NO one can really describe the music of Spriggan Mist.
Based on old tales spiritual pathways, dreams and reality they drift from floaty folky tunes with guitar and low D whistle to guitar-driven rock songs that will make you jump. With their love for all things Steampunk they spread Spriggery Pokery everywhere they go!
Vocalist Ann-Mari Thomas’ has a unique vocal style which is both spiritual and contemporary with hints of Kate Bush and All About Eve.
4.15pm, The Salts
THEIR sound has been described as “sea shanties with attitude”.
The Salts are seasoned musicians, creating what is fast becoming one of the most exciting and energetic folk concepts of recent times.
Individually The Salts, fronted by twice BBC Young Folk Finalist Lee Collinson-James, have circumnavigated the Commonwealth with tours of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, India, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Their debut album, She Rises features a mesmerising mix of full speed traditional and original shanties and their second album on Bracken Records is if it is possible even better
5.30pm, The Jiveoholics
SWINGIN’ Jump Jive music is what the Jiveoholics are all about! Their show is crammed full of classic Swing, Jive, Boogie and Blues arrangements of songs from the 40s, 50s and early 60s. Hit tunes from the stars of the day: Louis Jordan, Louis Prima and Cab Calloway; Wynonie Harris, Big Joe Turner and Ray Charles; Infectious rhythms that won’t let your feet stay still and will have you sliding on to the dance floor as soon as you hear the first note.
Their outrageous stage costume of loud Hawaiian shirts, pork pie hats and two-tone shoes have ensured that a) this band won’t be mistaken for any other and b) they are being sought by the fashion police of six European countries for crimes against sartorial elegance.
The fusion of white-hot, upbeat, swinging music and unforgettable outfits all wrapped up in engaging, cheeky banter means the party starts when The Jiveoholics hit the stage.
6.45pm, Selina and the Howlin Dogs
THEIR fans can’t wait, and neither can the band.
Selina and the Howlin Dogs are looking forward to coming back to The Wokingham Festival. In a message on their Facebook, the band wrote: “And the count down begins for Wokingham Festival August bank holiday weekend! Can’t wait to come back for a third time – always such a fab atmosphere.”
The group is a guitar-based band with female lead vocals playing upbeat funky rock with a contemporary sound.
They regularly play across Berkshire and Oxfordshire at festivals such as the Witney Music Festival, Marlow Rock Bottom and others. Their original sound is a delight but hey also love to throw in a few covers.
Get set for one of the most popular bands ever to come to the festival. They are an energetic, crowd pleasing band able to grab the attention of the audience and keep it.
8pm, The Sting Operation
HE WAS one of the most enduring singer-songwriters over the last three decades.
Sting had a success of hits with The Police and has since teamed up with many music legends across the world.
The Sting Operation is a live tribute to the great man that is devoted to putting on the ultimate authentic stage show, recreating the music that remains as popular now as it ever was.
You can expect to hear all the most popular hits from his considerable catalogue, including Fields Of Gold, Englishman In New York, Every Breath You Take, If You Love Somebody Set Them Free, Roxanne and many others.
After seeing The Sting Operation perform, you will undoubtedly agree… “It’s Probably Him!”
9.30pm to close, Funk Lab
A SUNDAY summer’s evening is the perfect time to listen to Funk Lab – but then again, anytime will do.
These seven talented and passionate musicians bring something fresh and exciting with their wide range of classic and timeless soul, jazz and funk.
Maybe it’s the sound they create, maybe it’s the way they perform. But whatever it is, Funk Lab have something special that sets them apart from other bands which is why they have been chosen to play at some of the world’s major venues.
With Funk Lab expect deep hypnotic grooves, soaring vocals, stunning jazz guitar, jazz piano and funk sax.
