A WOKINGHAM environmental group’s first public event was deemed a great success, as volunteers gathered to tidy up the town.
SustEnable Wokingham members and friends turned up at Wokingham Town Hall armed with plastic bags and litter-pickers, their mission to make a difference to the environment and clean up borough roads.
“We achieved our first public event with a really good turnout,” said the group.
“And it was such a nice feeling, to collect more than 70kg of litter from the streets.
“Well done to everyone who took part, and thank you for contributing.”

Four CLASP members who took part said that they had appreciated an opportunity to support the community and the environment.
SustEnable Wokingham aims to bring together like-minded individuals committed to reducing the use of plastic, promoting environmental thinking and inspiring positive change.
The not-for-profit group hopes its activities will help build a fairer, more sustainable world.
Currently in the process of developing its website, the organisation is currently contactable via its Facebook page.
