With the top three out of action in Division One, Tilehurst RBL A are now tied in fourth as they caught up this week’s opponents Kingfisher C.
Keith Winter, Jon Willis and reserve Kate Maksimenko all played well with two each to edge it 6-4. Keith’s epic encounter against Alan Cummings ended 14-12 7-11 17-15 9-11 11-9.
But none of them could overcome Theo Kniep who took his maximum, teaming up with Alan for the doubles.
Kingfisher D scored an excellent 5-5 draw away to Tidmarsh A, despite Dale Ballard winning his three for the home side. Antony Baker added two more, but Mike Douglas (2), Georgi Ivanov (1) and Ajai Kamath (1) all contributed including taking the doubles to force the draw.
Dave Croucher was untroubled as he took his maximum for Sonning Sports at Sonning Common & Peppard C but Danny Dockree and Jon Abbott scored two each and Mark Jones added his first win of the season as this match also ended 5-5.
In another epic encounter Sonning Common & Peppard B drew 5-5 with Sonning Common & Peppard D, Brian Meheux and Malcolm Gregory starring for the D team with excellent doubles while for the B team Tom Astle managed a fine maximum.
Division Two title favourites Reading FC had a 9-1 win over Tidmarsh B with new signing Tom Lewis getting a maximum along with Michael Childs. Tidmarsh C and Tilehurst RBL B had a hard fought 5-5 draw with Kate Maksimenko getting yet another maximum for Tilehurst.
Set of the night saw John Willcocks recover from two games down to beat Simon Craig 12-10 in the fifth.
Kingfisher F beat Kingfisher G 8-2 with Adrian Cretu getting a very good maximum for the F team. Club mates Kingfisher E drew with a two man Pangbourne WMC with Leroy Wilson and John Simmonds both getting two good wins for Pangbourne.
Our Lady of Peace A’s recent good form continued with an impressive 8-2 win at Springfield A with the in-form Chris West getting another maximum.
Division Three had a busy schedule as all matches were played as scheduled. The week started with on form Our Lady of Peace B being held toa 5-5 draw by Tilehurst Methodists B.
Nigel Rowland was the star of the night for Tilehurst with his second consecutive treble. On the same night, Sonning Common & Peppard E hosted the Tilehurst Methodists A team and it ended in another 5-5 draw.
Jacek Krzyzanowski had his fourth treble of the season and this helped his team to draw with a well-performing Sonning Common team.
Kingfisher I beat Tilehurst Methodists C 9-1 for their 8th consecutive win of the season. Muharrem Aydin joined with a solid 2 wins to Eyup Odemis and Huzeyfe Borazan’s treble.
The highlight of the match was the away team’s only win where Steve Cristeslow won against Muhareem Aydin from 1-2 down to win the last two games 12-10, where he saved two match points: 11-3 5-11 11-9 10-12 10-12.
Kingfisher J lost at home against Tidmarsh D 7-3 where the only points for the home team came from player of the match Eapen John. The away team’s players won two games each and returned home with a solid result.
Our Lady of Peace D beat Sonning Sports B 6-4. James Smith continued his good performance with another solid treble.
Fading Tilehurst RBL C lost 8-2 at Our Lady of Peace F in division 4, OLOP’s Gopi Ponnaplli hit a three straight hat trick.
Sonning Sports D stormed to the top of the table by beating a weakened Our Lady of Peace E 10-0, John Churchouse, James Miller and Cris Reynolds were the treble men.
OLOP E beat Sonning Common & Peppard G 6-4 thanks mainly to a three straight maximum from Pat Daniels.
Sonning Common & Peppard F went to Sonning Sports C and won 9-1, Gerry Bacon and Mike Casserley were both undefeated.
Springfield C beat Kingfisher K 9-1 with Benson Shiu and Marcello Caramma winning three each, while Rob Atack and Shas Veeramani were in good form against Kingfisher L, both winning all three in a 7-3 win for Springfield B.
