MOVE OVER Simon Cowell, here’s a talent contest that will have Wokingham borough rocking: the top prize is the chance to appear on a bill that includes 80s legends Michael Bolton, Belinda Carlisle and Midge Ure.
The acts are all on the bill for Sunday at this year’s Rewind South festival in Henley later this month and organisers are now searching for a local star to come forward and join this star-studded bill.
The Rewind’s Got Talent contest aims to give the winner an experience they’ll never forget.
Katt Lingard, Rewind Festival event manager, said: “We all know it’s our Rewinders who come back year after year that make our festivals what they are.
“This festival is theirs and we want to give them a chance to enjoy their moment in the limelight. Rewind’s Got Talent is all about sharing the stage with the people we built it for.”
To be considered, applicants should email a short video of their talent to the event team.
These will be whittled down to eight acts that will then be invited to perform at Rewind South on Friday, August 16. Judges include comedian Andre Vincent, Terry Alderton, and Rayguns Look Real Enough.
The winner will be chosen and announced on the night, before being invited to return and perform on the Main Stage on Sunday.
And the prize will mean they’ll be on a bill that includes, across the weekend, Bryan Ferry, Foreigner, Thin Lizzy, Gloria Gaynor, Four Tops, Michael Bolton, Lulu, The Stranglers, Belinda Carlisle, Midge Ure, Bananarama, UB40 (feat. Ali Campbell and Astro), Grandmaster Flash and more. Plus, award-winning comedians including Russell Kane, Phill Jupitus, Joel Dommett, Jimeoin, Tom Allen, and Lost Voice Guy.
None of these are tribute acts: they are all the real deal.
The family-friendly festival will also have a special children’s area, where they can take part in a scavenger hunt, enjoy their own disco and play crazy golf.
