A THAMES Valley Police officer has been charged with misconduct in public office and computer misuse, the force has announced.
Nicholas Fielding-Smith, aged 42, who was a PC with Thames Valley Police based in Berkshire, is charged with three counts of misconduct in a public office and one count of unauthorised access to data contrary to section 1(1) and (3) of the Computer Misuse Act 1990.
The charges relate to allegations of relationships being formed with three members of the public through the course of policing duties, and a further instance of a police computer system being accessed without a legitimate policing purpose.
Fielding-Smith is now due to appear at Reading Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (July 4).
